Widespread high-speed broadband access on secured networks may not be a cure-all for problems that have plagued Peru, but leaders believe it is a good start in stimulating its rural economic infrastructure.

Simply getting ready to mine is supercharging Mongolia's tiny economy. Its GDP grew 6.1 percent last year and was up 9.7 percent in the first quarter of 2011 from a year earlier.

“The mining sector could very well carry Mongolia for the next 50 years,” says Parmeshwar Ramlogan, the Ulaanbaatar-based resident representative for Mongolia at the International Monetary Fund.

What makes RAX such an attractive short: The consensus diluted EPS estimate for 2011 is just shy of 50 cents. The estimate rises to 90-95 cents in 2013. Research reports don't show RAX capital expenditures rising meaningfully from 2011 levels. In other words, Wall Street analysts seem to believe that this capital intensive business can ramp its earnings growth without meaningfully increasing capital spending.

Overall, Q2 revenues hit US$ 4.85 billion, up 20% on the same quarter last year, while net income rose to US $546.5 million, up 28% on 2010's Q2.  Analysts suggest that EMC is benefiting from an increase demand for mid-priced storage that is helping to offset slower sales of more expensive technology.
