Medient Studios broke ground on America's largest film studio in Effingham Georgia, just outside of Savannah on August 29. The event received widespread television, radio, and print coverage.

It’s happening…big time.

Ok not ALL of Georgia…but everyone that counts in Savanna region.

Like I told Medient Studios CEO Manu Kumaran at the groundbreaking event, “Manu…you HAVE to get this done—promising 1000 new jobs in this part of the country is BIG…and everyone here knows how to shoot and owns about 4.5 weapons per household!”

Buying land to build a movie StudioPlex costs a lot of money. However, MDNT is still making sure that they are keeping the coffers full for the upcoming 2014 production budget.

The Medient StudioPlex is becoming more of a reality every day. In recent news, MDNT was able to execute the Lease with Effingham County Industrial Development Authority ('Effingham IDA') for the 1,550 acre property where the StudioPlex will be built. With the property now in MDNT’s control, plans to start construction are expected to start soon.

Variety’s Peter Bart makes the right point: $200 million+ “tent-pole” movies are a rotten business model. He also points out the obvious—that 70-80% of the revenue are foreign markets…and they LOVE their movies in their native language—not sub titles.
