At the GigaOM Stucture Conference last week, Nimbus Data showed how they have successfully lead the market in providing Flash based storage options at an Enterprise scale for companies and the US Government.  It is the only sector of IT not to see performance improvements in the last 10 years.  Flash performance can increase I/O by many orders of magnitude changing performance dramatically, up to 86x faster performance, massive energy savings, and overall cost almost the same or less then traditional hard drives. You NEED to know about this.

Gartner is projecting that the Cloud Services Brokerage (CSB) market will be worth over $100B by 2015, and will be the fastest growing segment within cloud computing overall. Why I will still be investing. I know prices are higher than the norm right now. I am confident they will be lower at some point on a relative basis. But as an investor you cannot simply sit out period of great innovation. As Fred Wilson once pointed out to me, he invested in both Twitter & Tumblr during a high-valuation period.

Teresa Lunt, VP and director of the computing science lab at PARC, showed off a new networking technology dubbed Content-Centric Networking (CCN) at GigaOM’s Structure conference in San Francisco today.  Content is automatically encrypted and cached all over the network, and queried by name and description. “Information is self-organizing, and you don’t have to search for it,” explained Lunt. Think of it like a giant, autonomous mesh network of data. “With today’s network, data moves explicitly,” Lunt said.

At the GigaOM Structure Conference last week,all of the top Cloud companies spoke to various front burner issues in the cloud computing space.  Disaster Recovery was viewed as a strong growth market that hasn't been adequately addressed yet for most companies.  It is a logical and practical solution to meet many of the corporate governance requirements that related to Disaster Recovery plans.
